Overview
After an early breakfast at Moir Hut, climbers set off on an exhilarating trek along the Northern Circuit of Mount Kilimanjaro. The day unfolds with sweeping, rugged views as they approach Buffalo Camp, perched on a high ridge. This remote route offers solitude and panoramic views of the vast Kenyan plains stretching out to the north, contrasted by Kilimanjaro's dramatic alpine desert terrain.
As they progress, climbers enjoy clear views of Kibo Peak, Kilimanjaro’s highest point, rising majestically at the mountain's corner. The trail undulates over ridges, giving glimpses of both Kilimanjaro’s rugged slopes and the wide, open plains of Kenya. This is a unique section of the trek, allowing climbers to take in the beauty of Kilimanjaro from a different angle, with the expansive horizon as a backdrop.
Upon arrival at Buffalo Camp, set at around 4,020 meters, climbers settle in for the night. The camp’s position on the ridge offers an ideal vantage point for both sunset and sunrise, illuminating the plains below and the mountain’s impressive peaks above. This day is both challenging and rewarding, filled with awe-inspiring views that make it a memorable stretch of the Kilimanjaro journey.
