Overview
On the last day of the Kilimanjaro journey, climbers leave Mweka Camp and descend through the lush, misty rainforest toward Mweka Gate. The trail winds beneath a canopy of towering trees and thick foliage, a refreshing and scenic contrast to the alpine zones above. As they approach the gate, climbers often gather for a heartfelt tipping ceremony and farewell celebration with their guides and porters, sharing gratitude and camaraderie built over the climb. At Mweka Gate, each climber receives a summit certificate—a proud reminder of their accomplishment.
After photos and farewells, climbers board their vehicles for the drive back to Moshi or Arusha, where they can unwind in comfort. Many continue their adventure with a safari in Tanzania’s national parks or a beach holiday on the beautiful islands of Zanzibar or along the African coast, celebrating the end of an unforgettable journey to Africa’s highest peak.
