Itinerary

Day 1

Our representative will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to your hotel/lodge in Dar es Salaam. You’ll take some rest as you look forward to the next day which is packed with several leisure activities.

Day 2 Selous Game Reserve

Your safari starts with a light aircraft flight directly into the heart of Selous Game Reserve. You’ll get a great view of the Rufiji River and tall Borassus palms while you fly in over the reserve. As soon as you settle into your camp, we’ll head out on a guided boat safari and watch out for crocodiles and hippo while on the guided boat safari gliding over the water. Admire the sunset while the guided boat trip lasts. At night, you’ll enjoy a bush dinner by lamplight and make a choice of what you would like to do the next day.

Day 3 Selous Game Reserve

On the third day, you’ll enjoy your first full day of safari in Selous Game Reserve. Whatever you choose to do, whether you want to bush walk, boat safari or game drive, you’ll definitely witness some close wildlife encounters. Today, you could see wildlife such as zebra, giraffe, eland, lion, wildebeest, elephant, impala and also the elusive leopard. There are expert tour guides and a small group of guests from the camp. By building a camaraderie with other safari-goers, you will be able to recall your experiences from your day’s adventure while sitting near the campfire this evening.

Day 4 Selous Game Reserve

While you stay at Selous Game Reserve, we highly recommend that you take a guided bush walk which will be accompanied by a ranger who’ll also share their passion and knowledge for the reserve’s wildlife and also ensure your safety. Being on foot provides you with a completely different perspective to being in a safari vehicle because it allows you to appreciate smaller details from the interesting birdlife paw prints in the dirt. Walking will make you feel more immersed in the landscape and also your proximity to wildlife furnishes you with so many stories of adventure to take home with you.

Day 5 Selous Game Reserve

Being the final day in this Game Reserve, you’ll get the chance to see the incredibly rare wild dogs known as painted wolf. Selous Game Reserve happens to be one of the few places in Tanzania where they can be found. They’ve actually become a cult sighting for wildlife lovers and tourists and expert guides and trackers of the camp will provide you with the best chance possible to find them.

Day 6 Zanzibar

While you’re on an hour drive to the airstrip, you’ll be able to enjoy one last chance to spot wildlife before catching a flight to Zanzibar. The light aircraft will arrive Zanzibar in one hour and your driver will meet you for a private transfer across the island to the beautiful palm-fringed east coast. This one hour drive will take you through vibrant villages and also drive past spice plantations on the way. Considering the flight and leisure activities for the past few days, you can spend the rest of the day relaxing in your hotel’s spa, lazing on the white sanded beach or even cycling out to explore the local fishing villages of Paje and Bwejuu.

Day 7 Zanzibar Island

Spend your day taking in the beautiful beachside surroundings, reading an interesting book under the shade of a palm tree and swimming in the warm Indian Ocean. You can also arrange for other leisure activities such as kite surfing, diving, snorkeling or you can even head out on a pedalo. There are several activities that will make your day memorable.

Day 8 Zanzibar Island

Now that you’ve relaxed a bit, today, we suggest that you visit one of the small-scale spice farms located on the island. You’ll definitely get real firsthand experience tasting and smelling the spices such as vanilla, cinnamon, turmeric, and nutmeg. Alternatively, you can go through the villages and Zanzibar’s countryside while you pick leaves, twigs, and fruits for you to taste and smell before you guess what spices they are, however, you’ll be able to do this on a guided spice tour. After spending time in the spice farms, relax back on the beach or at your hotel.

Day 9 Jozani Forest

Today, you’ll explore another area of Zanzibar which is the enchanting Jozani Forest located south of the island. In this tropical forest, you can see the rare kirk’s red colobus monkeys. The red colobus monkeys are endemic to the island and it’s entertaining to watch them as they leap and play in the trees. There are several other monkey species that you can find here as well as a variety of birdlife. You can follow many walking trails through the forest and the nearby Zanzibar Butterfly Center allows you to walk right through a tropical garden that’s filled with hundreds of butterfly species.

Day 10 Stone Town

You’ll be heading into Stone Town today, the historic town which is located on the west coast is about half an hour from your hotel. We can also arrange for a private transfer for you. Stone Town has always been the hub of the famous spice trade for centuries with an interesting history. You’ll no doubt come across ornate carved doorways and market stalls while you walk around. For your great delight, while visiting Stone Town, we will arrange for a local guide to show you around and educate you about the history of the town. There are several restaurants and food stalls lining the streets and this makes Stone Town the best place on the island where you can try the local cuisine which is a combination of Bantu, Indian, Arab, Portuguese and British influences and they use the spice grown on the island. This will serve as a great way to enjoy a honeymoon safari on this beautiful island.

Day 11 Departure

Today, your private driver will transfer you to Zanzibar Airport for your onward flights.
